On this day, 119 years ago, on December 31, 1906 (November 16, 1906, the lunar calendar), Liu Daoyi, leader of the Pingliuli Uprising and a member of the League Association, died. Liu Daoyi's original name was Ji Tang, the word Bingsheng, the name Chufei, and the name Peixiong. People from Hengshan. In his early years, he studied at Xiangtan American Christian School. In 1904 (30th year of Guangxu), he participated in the Huaxing Conference in Changsha, and the Liaison Conference party prepared to rise. Soon he studied in Japan and attended Tsinghua School in Tokyo (one said to be a regular English school). During his stay in Japan, Zeng secretly formed the revolutionary group "Ten People's Association" with Qiu Qu and others, and participated in the "Three Points Association"(or called the Hongmen Heaven and Earth Association) organized by Feng Ziyou and others in Hengbin, and served as a "straw shoe"(about to go to the army). In July 1905, the Alliance was established, and he was sworn in as a member of the Alliance and served as secretary, officer, etc. After returning to China in the autumn of 1906, he and Cai Shaonan and other leaders launched the Pingliuli Uprising. While he was plotting in Changsha to urge the new army and defense camp to respond, he was arrested and heroically sacrificed by the Qing court. He is the author of "Hengshan Zhengqi Collection." Liu Daoyi's ancestor Liu Hanzong moved to Yangliuchong, Baishipu, Xiangtan County. When his father, Fang Shanyao, was a brave soldier in the Hunan Military Camp, he was released into the captured chief of the Taiping Army, Lin Dirong, because of his righteousness. To avoid disaster, he changed his name to Pengyuan and hid in Badouchong, Huaye Township, County, and later served as a criminal servant in the execution room in Xiangtan County Yamen. When he was a child, he went to a private school to read "Mencius". He was able to recite it clearly, had a cheerful personality, was good at eloquence, and showed his brilliance. Later, he entered the county education school to study. Influenced by the revolutionary trend and his brother Liu Kuiyi, his thoughts were radical. When reading "Han Shu·The Biography of Marquis Zhu Xu", I very appreciated the sentence "Those who are not of their own species, hoe them away", and I called myself "hoe them away." Later, he entered Changsha School of Education. In the 30th year of Guangxu of the Qing Dynasty (1904), Huang Xing, Liu Kuiyi and others organized the revolutionary group Huaxing Association in Changsha. In the previous year, he participated in the preparations, joined, and participated in the preparatory activities for the Changsha Uprising. In February, he was admitted to the official fee student studying in Japan with excellent results. After crossing the east, he studied at Tsinghua School in Tokyo, and joined the "Ten Member Group" with 10 people including Qiu Jin and Huang Renzhang with the purpose of resisting the Qing Dynasty and restoring China. Later, he and Qiu Jin participated in the Hongmen Heaven and Earth Association organized by Feng Ziyou and others in Yokohama, and served as "straw sandals"(generals). In August of the 31st year of Guangxu and August 1905, the Alliance was established in Tokyo and was promoted to the positions of secretary, officer, etc. to handle foreign affairs. Huang Xing said that he was "an excellent figure in diplomacy in the future." In 1906, he and Cai Shaonan, Peng Bangdong and others were appointed by Huang Xing to return to Hunan to "mobilize the new army and revitalize the party" and prepare for an armed uprising. After arriving in Changsha, he and Cai Shaonan gathered dozens of revolutionary comrades and secretly discussed in ships on land and land to discuss the uprising plan. After the meeting, he stayed in Changsha to take charge of the overall situation of the uprising and was responsible for liaising with the Tokyo headquarters of the Alliance and all parties. According to the original plan of the Shuilu Zhou Conference, it was planned to raise an incident at the end of the lunar calendar when the officials were sealed. On December 4 of the same year, the Ping, Liu and Li uprisings led by Cai Shaonan, Gong Chuntai and others broke out ahead of schedule. At that time, he was campaigning for the new army in Changsha. After hearing the news of the incident, he stepped up preparations day and night so that when the uprising team attacked Changsha, the new army and the defense camp could open the city and respond. He first planned in Changsha, and then went to Hengshan to make contact. Unfortunately, on his way back to Changsha from Hengyang, he was arrested and sent to the governor of Changsha for interrogation. In the face of severe torture by cruel officials, he was unyielding. On December 31 of the same year, he was killed outside Liuyang Gate in Changsha. He was the first student studying in Japan to be killed because of the anti-Qing revolution, and he was also the first martyr among members of the League to shed blood for the revolution. He is the author of "Hengshan Zhengqi Collection." Liu Daoyi was the first member of the China League to die for the revolution. Sun Yat-sen and Huang Xing wrote an elegy saying: Sun Wen is halfway to the southeast, and Liu Lang died to conquer the sky. Shang Yu's legacy is very difficult, and I am as generous as others. The autumn wind on the frontier mourns the war horses, and the sunset in China cries. When will you drink Huanglong wine and lay your head across the river to make a public sacrifice? Huang Xing's hero cried for Liu Lang without life, and the chivalrous bones of the Central Plains were fragrant. I haven't swallowed Hu's achievements in the Han Dynasty, but you will first hang your head and see Wu Huang. What does the sky mean by chirping red children? The yellow flag has already lit up after hunting. Talents in my eyes think of scholars of the country, and everything is difficult to establish. In March 1912, the Nanjing Provisional Government posthumously recognized him as a martyr, and his body was moved to Yuelu Mountain in Changsha.
