June 2, 1907 Qinv Lake Uprising, Huizhou, Guangdong
On this day, 118 years ago, June 2, 1907 (April 22, 1907 in the lunar calendar), Qinu Lake Uprising, Huizhou, Guangdong. The Huizhou Uprising was an armed uprising against the rule of the Qing Dynasty led by Deng Ziyu, a member of the League. After the failure of the Boxer Rebellion Movement, in order to adapt to the development of the situation in China at that time, in August 1905, the bourgeois revolutionaries established a modern bourgeois revolutionary party-the China Revolutionary League (referred to as the League) in Tokyo, Japan, as the party leading the national revolution. The Alliance was composed of many original revolutionary groups, such as the Xingzhong Association, the Restoration Association, and the Huaxing Association. Hundreds of people joined. Sun Yat-sen was elected prime minister. After the establishment of the Alliance, they launched many uprisings in southern China. They planned to capture Guangdong first, then Guangxi, gradually occupy the seven southern provinces, and then move north out of the Yangtze River to spread the anti-Qing fire across the country. While planning the Chaozhou Uprising, in order to distract the Qing army, Sun Yat-sen sent Deng Ziyu to launch an uprising in Huizhou. Deng Ziyu once ran a hotel business in Singapore. When the Hui parties in Huizhou fled to Nanyang, most of them went to join him. Therefore, Deng Ziyu has high prestige among the Hui Party in Huizhou. On June 2, 1907, Deng Ziyu appointed Chen Chun, Sun Yin and others to gather people to raise flags at Qinu Lake, 20 miles away from Huizhou, to launch an uprising. They robbed the Qing army's defense camp firearms, killed many Qing troops, and captured some ruins and villages. Congregation parties from all over the country responded one after another and participated in the battle against the Qing army. The rebel army issued a denunciation saying: "Yangyang China, sway China, thousands of states pay tribute, and come to court." The barbarians occupy and kill them, and this hatred is hard to dispel." The uprising army came and went quickly and was invincible, defeating the Qing army many times. The uprising lasted for more than 10 days. In the end, because they were outnumbered, the rebels buried their guns and disbanded themselves. After the failed uprising, Deng Ziyu was ordered to leave the country by the Hong Kong Chinese Affairs Bureau. The other two people who led the uprising, Chen Chun, fled to Hong Kong and moved to Nanyang, and Sun Yin was killed by the Qing government's Guangdong authorities in 1909. Including the Huizhou Qinvhu Uprising, the Alliance has launched and led eight uprisings in a row since its establishment. However, because it did not go to the broad masses of the people to do arduous and in-depth mobilization and organization work and engage in simple military adventures, these uprisings all ended in failure. However, each uprising dealt a heavy blow to the reactionary rule of the Qing Dynasty, expanded the political influence of the Alliance among the masses, stimulated anti-Qing sentiments among the people across the country, and played a role in promoting revolution and inspiring people.
