42 years ago today, on November 3, 1983 (September 29, 1983 in the lunar calendar), the United Kingdom will return the Sphinx beard to Egypt. The lower beard of the Sphinx (Sphinx) guarding the three pyramids in Cairo's Giza district was finally returned from Britain to Egypt. The Sphinx's beard turned out to be 5 meters long. In 1817, a colonialist took its beard and presented it to Britain to express his "loyalty" to the British Empire, and has been "stored" in the British Museum ever since.
