September 12, 1917 The Kornilov rebellion in Russia was crushed
108 years ago today, September 12, 1917 (July 26, 1917 in the lunar calendar), the Kornilov rebellion in Russia was crushed. After the overthrow of the Russian tsarist rule, the bourgeois provisional government took over state power. After its bloody suppression of the revolutionary masses in July 1917, it announced that it would use iron and blood to establish order. The new Russian Supreme Commander-in-Chief Kornilov, with the support of Allied imperialism such as the United States, Britain and France, launched a rebellion on September 7. Under the pretext of maintaining order in the capital, he transferred his trusted troops, Kremov's 3rd Cossack Cavalry Corps and the "Barbarian Division" composed of Caucasus mountain people, to Leningrad. Not only to suppress the Soviet of Engineers 'Representatives, but also to present an ultimatum to the provisional government, forcing all members of the provisional government to resign and hand over all power to him. The rebels also declared martial law and established field courts in the capital, Kronstadt, Finland, Estonia and other places. Prime Minister Kerensky had to turn to the Soviets for help, while the Social-Revolutionaries and the Mensheviks 'ruling Soviets had to turn to the Bolshevik Party. The Bolshevik Party formed a temporary alliance with Kerensky, the Socialist Revolutionary Party and Mensheviks to deal with Kornilov. At the call of the party, workers and soldiers in Petrograd and other places actively took action, and the sailors of the Baltic Fleet also actively participated in the struggle to crush the Kornilov rebellion. On September 12, Kremov committed suicide when he saw that the rebellion was hopeless. Kornilov was dismissed and arrested. The rebellion was crushed.
