August 22, 1849, Macau Governor Amaliu was assassinated
On this day, 176 years ago, August 22, 1849 (July 5, 1849, the Governor of Macao, Amaliu, was assassinated. Amaru (March 4, 1803-August 22, 1849), also translated as Amara and Amaral, his full name is João Ferreira de Amaral (original name in Portuguese), the 79th Macao Governor. In April 1846, he arrived in Macau from Lisbon to serve as Governor of Macau.
