On this day, 56 years ago, on June 6, 1969 (April 22, 1969, the Provisional Revolutionary Government of the Republic of Southern Vietnam was established. From June 6 to 8, 1969, the Southern National Liberation Front of Vietnam, the Alliance of National, Democratic and Peace Forces, together with other patriotic forces in southern Vietnam, convened the National Congress of Southern Vietnam in the Jiefang District, decided to establish the Southern Republic of Vietnam, and announced the establishment of the Provisional Revolutionary Government and the Government Advisory Council of the Southern Republic of Vietnam. The chairman of the government is Wong Jin Fat, and the chairman of the Advisory Committee is Nguyen You Thu. The government guides and resolves all internal and external affairs of the Republic of Southern Vietnam, unifies leadership of the People's Revolutionary Committees at all levels, and pushes the struggle of southern Vietnam to resist U.S. aggression and save the country to a new stage. It has received widespread sympathy internationally and has been recognized by nearly 30 countries.
