On this day, 74 years ago, on September 29, 1951 (August 29, 1951 in the lunar calendar), the central government decided to launch a campaign to reform the minds of intellectuals. Members of the Faculty Committee of China Academy of Sciences are discussing the study plan for ideological transformation. In late September 1951, more than 3000 teachers from 22 colleges and universities in Beijing and Tianjin launched a study campaign aimed at transforming teachers 'minds and reforming higher education. On September 29, Zhou Enlai delivered a report "On the Transformation of Intellectuals" at a teacher study report meeting in universities in Beijing and Tianjin. He talked about his experiences on the revolutionary stance, viewpoints, and methods of intellectuals, and called on teachers to work hard to transform themselves and become a revolutionary soldier on the cultural front. In October, the Study Committee of Beijing-Tianjin Universities was established. On January 30, 1950, the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China issued the "Instructions on Ideological Transformation and Organizational Cleanup in Schools", requiring that ideological transformation work be carried out generally among all university, secondary and primary school faculty and students above high school. On this basis, among college and junior college students and above, a campaign to faithfully and honestly clarify history and clean up the counter-revolutionaries among them was organized. According to the instructions of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, schools across the country quickly launched a learning and transformation movement. At the same time, a purposeful and prepared rectification study movement was launched in the literary and artistic circles to develop literary and artistic work in a sound direction. Soon, the decision was issued to launch a study movement to reform the ideological of people from all walks of life. As a result, the intellectual reform and study movement gradually expanded from the beginning of education to the vast number of intellectuals such as literature and art, science and technology, democratic parties, government agencies, people's organizations, industrial and commercial circles, and religions, forming a national-scale intellectual ideological reform and study movement. Through this study movement, the political and ideological influence of imperialism, feudalism and bureaucratic capitalism was eliminated among intellectuals, the idea of serving the people was established, and the team was purified to a certain extent. However, due to its hasty, excessive requirements and simple methods, this movement hurt the feelings of some intellectuals.
