Fifty years ago today, on July 24, 1975 (June 16, 1975, the lunar calendar), Wang Zhuquan, one of the founders of my country's coalfield geology, died of illness. Wang Zhuquan (1891.4.9-1975.5.24), a geologist. People from Jiaohe, Hebei. Received a master's degree from the University of Wisconsin in 1929. Chief Engineer and Researcher of the Geology Department of the Ministry of Coal and Director of the Institute of Geology of the Beijing Coal Science Research Institute. He has been engaged in geological work for 60 years, and his research results cover many fields of geology, among which coalfield geology is the most, and has put forward many unique insights. In the early years, the idea of using heavy minerals as a symbol to identify igneous rocks was proposed; a new mineral "Xihu Stone" was discovered in Changping; later, systematic investigation and research were carried out on major coalfields in Shandong, Anhui, Hebei, Jiangxi, Shanxi, Henan, Suiyuan (now Inner Mongolia), Shaanxi, Liaoning, Hunan, Yunnan and Guizhou provinces, establishing a foundation for future large-scale exploration. The study on the formation conditions and distribution laws of the Late Permian coalfields in South China in the 1950s has exemplary significance. It also studied and summarized the metamorphism laws of coal in China, and first proposed the types of contact metamorphism of coal, which not only has practical significance, but also makes positive contributions to the theory of coalfield geology. In 1957, he was selected as an academician of China Academy of Sciences (member of the Faculty). Wang Zhuquan is a regional geologist and coalfield geologist. He is the founder of my country's coalfield geology. He edited my country's first batch of 1:1 million geological maps-"Taiyuan-Yulin Sheet". His "Shanxi Coal Mines Annals" and "Formation Conditions and Distribution Laws of Late Permian Coalfields in South China" are of classic significance. He has made important achievements in his research on strata, structures, landforms, and minerals in several areas in North China, East China, Northeast China, and Southwest China. Comment: Learn from the older generation of scientists and be a successful person.
