On July 10, 2005 (June 5, 2005 in the lunar calendar), Shanghai donated its first case of hematopoietic stem cells to Hong Kong. At 4 pm on July 10, 2005, in Huashan Hospital Affiliated to Fudan University in Shanghai, the hematopoietic stem cells donated by citizen Liang Hao were officially handed over to Hong Kong by Xie Lijuan, President of the Shanghai City Red Cross Society. This is the first case of hematopoietic stem cells donated by Shanghai to Hong Kong. Hong Kong representatives will fly back to Hong Kong on the afternoon of July 11 with 150 ml of hematopoietic stem cells. Donor Liang Hao, 32 years old, is a driver at Shanghai Changming Valve and Pipe Fittings Company. In May this year, the Shanghai branch of the China Hematopoietic Stem Cell Donor Database received a notice from the main bank that Liang Hao and Hong Kong leukemia patient Shi Jieying had exactly the same HLA typing. After a series of work such as high-resolution review, physical examination and signing consent forms, Liang Hao was admitted to Huashan Hospital on July 6. From July 7 to 9, after three days of preparation for hematopoietic stem cell collection, the hospital arranged to collect Liang Hao's hematopoietic stem cells twice on the 10th and 11th. The first collection went smoothly, and Liang Hao is currently in good health. Shanghai began recruiting non-related bone marrow donor donors in 1992. Currently, the number of people in the bank, the number of people searched, and the number of donations in the hematopoietic stem cell bank ranks among the top among provincial branch banks in the country. As of the end of June 2005, the Shanghai branch bank had 51708 volunteers in storage, providing a total of 1871 patients with retrieval services. 236 patients were successfully matched, and 60 volunteers donated hematopoietic stem cells.
