On August 17, 2000 (the 18th of the seventh lunar month), the first batch of immigrants from the Three Gorges Reservoir Area arrived in Shanghai.

On the morning of August 17, 2000, the "Jiangyu 9" ship that transported the first batch of cross-provincial and municipal immigrants from the Three Gorges Reservoir Area to Chongming, Shanghai arrived in Chongming, Shanghai after sailing more than 2000 kilometers, nearly 4 days and 4 nights. 639 immigrants were transported by relevant towns and villages to their new homes in Chongming by buses. Relevant departments in Shanghai City issued land contract certificates and real estate ownership certificates to the Three Gorges immigrants. They became Shanghainese from then on!

In the movie "Good People in the Three Gorges", at the end of the film, a dissimilated rocket is launched into space. The main body of the rocket is the "Hua Zi Tower" in Fengjie County. This tower was recently blown up and demolished due to becoming a unfinished project.
