On August 6, 1398, Emperor Jianwen of the Ming Dynasty began to "destroy the vassals"
On this day, 627 years ago, August 6, 1398 (June 24, 1398, the lunar calendar), Zhu Di launched the Battle of Jingnan. Zhu Yuanzhang died in 1398, and Zhu Yuanwen, the emperor's great-grandson, ascended the throne, known as Emperor Jianwen. After Zhu Yunwen ascended the throne, in order to strengthen centralization, he accepted the suggestion of ministers Qi Tai and Huang Zicheng to "cut the vassals". On August 6, 1399 (the fifth day of the seventh month of the first year of Jianwen in the Ming Dynasty), with the assistance of Qi Tai, Huang Zicheng and others, the five kings were abolished. On the same day, King Zhu Di of Yan rebelled. Zhu Di attacked Nanjing under the banner of "Qing Jun Bian". The battle name this time was "Jingnan". After more than three years of war, Zhu Di captured Nanjing in 1402, where he became emperor and was named Yongle. The whereabouts of Emperor Jianwen were unknown, and Zhu Di called him Chengzu of the Ming Dynasty. Interpretation: Qing Jun's side refers to the elimination of cronies and bad people around the monarch. It should have been a just act, but it always became the main reason for the instigators of the rebellion to resist the central government. Comment: He was a very accomplished emperor in the Ming Dynasty
