On May 22, 2007, Xu Ting was arrested in Shaanxi
On May 22, 2007 (April 6, 2007 in the lunar calendar), Xu Ting was arrested and brought to justice in Shaanxi. At 10 pm on April 21, 2006, Xu Ting came to the ATM of a bank on Huangpu Avenue, Tianhe District to withdraw money. As a result, after withdrawing 1000 yuan, he was surprised to find that only 1 yuan had been deducted from his bank card account. In his ecstasy, Xu Ting continuously withdrew 54,000 yuan. That night, Xu Ting returned to his residence and told his companion Guo Anshan about this. The two immediately went to withdraw money again, and then repeated the operation many times. Later, after police verification, Xu Ting withdrew 171 money, totaling 175,000 yuan; Guo Anshan withdrew 18,000 yuan. Afterwards, the two men absconded with the stolen money. On November 7, 2006, Guo Anshan surrendered himself to the public security organs and refunded the full amount of 18,000 yuan in stolen money. After trial by the Tianhe District Court, the court found that he constituted theft, but considering that he surrendered himself and voluntarily returned the stolen goods, he was sentenced to one year in prison and fined 1000 yuan. Xu Ting, who had absconded for a year, squandered 175,000 yuan in stolen money due to failed investment. He was arrested by the police at Baoji Railway Station in Shaanxi Province in May this year. A few days ago, after hearing the case, the Guangzhou City Intermediate People's Court held that the defendant Xu Ting used secret means to steal a financial institution with the purpose of illegal occupation. The amount was extremely huge, and the behavior constituted the crime of theft. He was sentenced to life imprisonment, deprivation of political rights for life, and confiscation of all personal property. In January 2008, the Guangdong Province High Court revoked the original judgment and sent it back for retrial. In March, the Guangzhou Intermediate People's Court issued a judgment, and Xu Ting changed the sentence to five years. Xu Ting refused to accept the appeal and appealed to the Guangdong Province High Court, which was rejected by the Provincial High Court on May 23. On August 20, the Supreme People's Court approved the judgment of the Guangdong Province High Court, and Xu Ting was sentenced to five years in prison for theft.
