German chemist Wendos was born

On December 25, 1876, the German chemist Wendos was born.
Windaus is a well-known organic chemist and physiological chemist in Germany and one of the pioneers of vitamin chemistry. Born into a civilian family in Berlin, he was later adopted by a widow from a wealthy industrial family. He did not inherit his ancestral heritage and initially wanted to become a doctor. Later, under Fisher's influence, he changed to study organic and biochemical science and became Fisher's assistant.
He has been engaged in the research of the structure of cholesterol for more than 30 years, published the first paper called "cholesterol", and later became the founder of the "steroid compound" family. He applied these research results to the field of vitamins and became one of the pioneers of vitamin chemistry, thus winning the Nobel Prize in 1928.
He died in Göttingen on June 9, 1959 at the age of 87.
