Breaking-News >> TodayHistory The Kuomintang was established on August 11, 1912
On this day, 113 years ago, August 11, 1912 (June 29, 1912 in the lunar calendar), the Kuomintang was founded. On August 11, 1912, five political groups, namely the Alliance, the United Republican Party, the Kuomintang Public Party, the National Progressive Association and the Republican Practical Association, gathered at the Anqing Guild Hall in Beijing to reach an agreement on merging into the Kuomintang. A declaration was issued on the 13th, saying: "In a republic system, the people are the main body of the country. We want to make people not forget its righteousness, so we call it the Kuomintang." At 1 p.m. on the 25th, the founding meeting of the Kuomintang was held at the Huguang Guild Hall, presided over by Sun Yat-sen, who had just arrived in Beijing yesterday. The conference adopted the "Kuomintang Political Statement" and its political platform. The declaration advocates that "when a country's political party develops, it is only appropriate for the two parties to confront each other and not for the separation of small parties." There are five political platforms: (1) Promote political unity. (2) Develop local autonomy. (3) Implement racial assimilation. (4) Focus on people's livelihood policies. (5) Maintaining international peace. The platform deletes the Alliance's platforms such as "equal land rights" and "equal rights for men and women", and changes "strive for international equality" to "maintain international peace." The conference elected nine members including Sun Yat-sen, Huang Xing and Song Jiaoren as directors, and 30 members including Yan Xishan, Zhang Ji, Li Liejun and Hu Ying as members of the council. After the founding of the Kuomintang, it became the largest party in the country. News raw data sources → https://www.abtool.cn/today_detail/1nq7.html 17WorldNews[2025.09.27-13:58] 访问:82
