On this day, 56 years ago, May 17, 1969 (April 2, 1969 in the lunar calendar), the first World Telecommunications Day was celebrated. On May 17, 1969, the 24th Executive Council of the International Telecommunication Union formally passed a resolution, deciding to designate May 17, the founding day of the International Telecommunication Union, as "World Telecommunication Day", and requiring all member states to start from 1969. Commemorative activities are held on May 17 every year. In 1973, the International Telecommunication Union passed a resolution again requiring member states to continue to carry out various commemorative activities, and the activities can be carried out in various ways. In order to make the commemoration more systematic, World Telecommunication Day has a theme every year. Our country also holds various activities to commemorate Telecommunication Day every year.
