33 years ago today, on May 30, 1992 (April 28, 1992 lunar calendar), the main culprit of the largest theft since the founding of our country was executed. Ma Wenzhi and Jin Yonghao, the main culprits of the largest bank theft since the founding of the People's Republic of China, were executed in Harbin on May 30, 1992. Since January 1992, Sheng Weiqiang, a team of technicians from Harbin Installation Company, colluded with Shenyang unemployed Ma Wenzhi and repeatedly infiltrated the basement of the Harbin branch power office of Agricultural Bank of China, using jacks, grinders, gas welding machines and other tools, in an attempt to open the vault, but failed. After that, Sheng and Ma colluded with Jin Yonghao, a worker at the Harbin Daily Printing Factory, and hired migrant workers to cut holes in the unallocated residential house separated from the vault for 6 days. On the evening of March 14 this year, the wall was nearly half a meter thick. The three criminals infiltrated the vault and stole RMB 1.282 million. After the incident, the relevant central departments and local leaders attached great importance to it, and the Harbin public security department solved the case in only 21 days. Sheng Weiqiang committed suicide in fear of crime when he was captured. The other two main criminals, Jin Yonghao and Ma Wenzhi, were arrested on April 5 and 6 respectively. In addition, seven criminals who covered up were also severely punished.
