On June 16, 1998, Xin Yejiang, former deputy director of the Standing Committee of the Hainan Province People's Congress, was finally sentenced to 5 years in prison by the Hainan Province Higher People's Court for accepting bribes. The court ruled that in May 1993, Hainan Haiyao Industrial Co., Ltd. asked Xin Yejiang, deputy director of the Securities Commission of Hainan Province, to help listing the company's shares. One night in late July of the same year, Haiyao employee Lin went to Xin Yejiang's home and handed over a receipt for internal employee shares of Haiyao Company with the words "Li Wucheng" and his ID card to Xin Yejiang. Xin accepted it on the spot, but did not pay the forest shares. After that, Xin Yejiang signed an "consent" opinion on September 27, 1993 on the Provincial Securities Commission's approval of Haiyao Company's report to the State Securities Regulatory Commission for review. In June 1994, Xin Yejiang, through his son, entrusted the 50,000-yuan stock receipts of Haiyao Company to the former Hainan Funan Securities Operation Department for sale, earning 193,190 yuan and retaining 73 shares.
