On September 7, 1927, the Nanchang Uprising Army was defeated
On this day 98 years ago, on September 7, 1927 (August 12, 1927 in the lunar calendar), the Nanchang Uprising Army suffered a setback. On September 7, 1927, the Communist Party of China's Ye Ting Department opened up to Changting, Tan Pingshan led various organs, Li Lisan was responsible for transporting the wounded and sick, and followed up successively. Zhou Shidi led the rear of the department. Due to the difficulties in resettling the wounded officers and soldiers and fundraising, the uprising troops moved unusually slowly. In Changting, the former committee discussed some major issues: regarding the organizational form of the regime, it was decided to continue to use the name of the Nationalist government to avoid foreign interference; Tan Pingshan was the chairperson. Fiscal policy, due to the reliance on the Chamber of Commerce to raise funds in Changting, decided to still implement the policy of confiscating grain property and fines against local tyrants and bad gentry. When discussing the plan to capture the Dongjiang River, Zhou Enlai and Ye Ting advocated using the main force to take Meixian County from Erheba through Songkou, then Xingning, Wuhua to take Huizhou, and a small part of the military force to attack Chaoshan. It was expected that the enemy was extremely panicked, but they could not fight. He Long, Liu Bocheng and Russian consultants advocated using the main force to take Chaoshan and Shan. Leave "a part of the troops to monitor the enemy in Meixian County at Sanheba, and then leave Xingning through Jieyang and Wuhua to take Huizhou. Ordinary officers, because after a long march, all want to rest, and most agree with the second proposition, so they decided to adopt the second proposition. On September 27, the Nanchang Uprising General Command received erroneous information that there were more than a thousand enemies concentrated in Tangkeng, so it decided to transfer all the 24th and 1st divisions stationed in Jieyang to Tangkeng. At about 1:00 pm, the advance of the uprising troops entered the hilly area on the right side of the mountain and lake, and engaged the enemy Wang Jun's army. The army was defeated, and the remnants fled in the direction of Tangkeng. In the evening, the uprising troops exchanged fire with Xue Yue's army in the hills opposite Zhugan Mountain. In the early morning of 28, the uprising troops occupied the Zhugan Mountain and the right-wing hills of Xue Yue's army. The forward troops took advantage of the victory and advanced to Fenshuicai. On the order of Li Jishen, they supported the 11th City Chen Jitang and Yu Hanmou departments of the two departments of Xue and Wang, and arrived at Fenshui Village first. The two army's vanguard encountered, and the insurgent army rushed forward bravely and rushed into the street battle in the village. The two armies repeatedly charged fiercely, competing for the commanding heights, and the follow-up troops of the two armies entered the battle. The fierce battle reached the early morning of the 29th, and the insurgent army suffered more than 2,000 casualties. Unable to fight any longer, they ordered to retreat; shortly after arriving at Jieyang City around 10 am, they retreated to Chaozhou. On the 30th, Jieyang fell to the enemy.
