On this day 32 years ago, on November 14, 1993 (October 1, 1993 in the lunar calendar), Senzo Nozaka, leader of the Communist Party of Japan, passed away. Senzo Nozaka (1892~ 1993), former honorary chairperson of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Japan. Yamaguchi Prefecture native. Graduated from Keio University. Joined the "Youai Association" (predecessor of the General Confederation of Labor of Japan) during his university studies, and served as the permanent secretary of the association after graduation. In July 1919, he went to London as a correspondent of the Youai Association to inspect the British trade union movement. In August 1920, he joined the British Communist Party. In May 1921, he was expelled by the British government. He returned to China in 1922 and joined the Communist Party of Japan in the same year. In March 1923, he served as a member of the party platform drafting committee at the temporary congress of the Communist Party of Japan After that, he served as the editor of "Proletarian Shimbun", the organ of the Communist Party of Japan. In March 1926, he participated in the formation of the Peasant Labor Party. In March 1928, he was arrested and imprisoned during the "March 1st Five-Year" incident, and was released on parole in March 1930. In January 1931, he was elected as a member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Japan. From February 1931 to 1940, he served as the Japanese representative of the Communist International in Moscow. In April 1940, he arrived in Yan'an and carried out propaganda activities against Japanese imperialism under the pseudonyms of Lin Zhe and Okano. In May of the same year, he founded the "Anti-War Alliance" composed of Japanese soldiers (prisoners), and in October, he founded the "Japanese Workers and Peasants School". In June 1942, he founded the "Japanese Communist League" in China. In Attended the Seventh Congress of the Communist Party of China in April 1945. Returned to Japan on January 12, 1946, and was elected as a member of the House of Representatives in April of the same year. Elected as the first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Japan in 1955. Elected as a senator in July 1956, and has been elected 4 times in a row since then. Resigned as a senator in 1977. Elected as the chairperson of the Central Committee after the Seventh Congress of the Communist Party of Japan in August 1958. After the Sixteenth Congress of the Communist Party of Japan in 1982, resigned as the chairperson of the Central Committee and served as the honorary chairperson. In 1992, he was relieved of his honorary position due to historical issues and expelled from the party. He is the author of books such as "Selected Works
