Benedict XIV was elected Pope

Pope Benedict XIV, also translated as Benedict XIV (March 31, 1675-May 3, 1758), formerly known as Prospero Lorenzo Lambertini, was an Italian during his reign from August 17, 1740 to May 3, 1758.

Comments: During this period, there was a liturgical dispute between China and the Holy See. The unwise policy of Catholicism made Emperor Kangxi angry and cut off the missionary of Christianity, and the Jesuit priests led by Matteo Ricci fell short.

Keywords: August 17, 1740, Pope IV
