On this day, 32 years ago, on August 15, 1993 (June 28, 1993 in the lunar calendar), tree scientist and forestry educator Xu Yongchun passed away. Xu Yongchun, Zi Jie Qun, a tree scientist and forestry educator. Born on November 26, 1910 in Fifu Township, Xinjian County, Jiangxi Province, his ancestral home was in Longnan County, Jiangxi Province. His father, Xu Shaoshi, is a tax card clerk. Xu Yongchun studied private school for 10 years since he was a child. He was able to recite four books and five classics and learned abacus arithmetic. In the spring of 1927, he started to study in primary school, and later entered Nanchang City No. 1 Middle School. After graduation, he applied for the Forestry Department of Central University. 1983-1986 He served as chairman of the Yunnan Forestry Society in 1999. 1983-1987 He was appointed as a professor at Southwest Forestry University in 1999. 1985-1988 He served as chairman of the Dendrology Professional Committee of China Forestry Society in 1999. He died of illness on August 15, 1993. He has in-depth research on tree taxonomy, published more than 20 new species and more than 20 new combinations of the family, and has done a lot of revisions and supplements to the research on the family Fagaceae in my country; he is the founder of the Tree Herbarium of Southwest Forestry College; editor-in-chief of the dendrology branches of the "Chinese Agricultural Encyclopedia¡¤Forestry Volume" and the "Yunnan Tree Atlas"; compiled the Fagaceae and some of its genera in the "Flora of Yunnan","Flora of Xizang", and "Tree of China".
