On May 26, 1900, Wang Yuanzhuan, a Taoist priest in Mogao Grottoes, accidentally discovered a "Tibetan Scripture Cave" in the 17th cave (now numbered). There are 50,000 or 60,000 cultural relics from the 4th century AD to the 14th century AD. This is a major discovery in archaeology in our country in the early 20th century. In addition to Chinese manuscripts, Tibetan, Sanskrit, Yilu, Sogdian, Ancient Hetian, Huifu and other ethnic manuscripts account for about one-sixth, and there are hundreds of silk paintings, embroidery and other art works.
