On this day, 85 years ago, on December 30, 1940 (December 2, 1940 in the lunar calendar), the People's Broadcasting Industry of China was born. In the spring of 1940, Comrade Zhou Enlai returned from the Soviet Union and brought back a radio transmitter. The Party Central Committee decided to establish a broadcasting committee, with Zhou Enlai as director to lead the establishment of a radio station. The site was selected in Wangpiwan Village, northwest of Yan 'an City. Under the organization and leadership of Zhou Enlai, the communications soldiers carried forward the spirit of hard work and dug two cellar holes halfway up the mountain to serve as a machine room and power room. Without electricity, gas produced by burning charcoal was used instead of gasoline to start the engine of the dilapidated car and drive the motor to run. Without steel, wooden poles were used as shelves to set up antennas on the top of the mountain. After more than half a year of hard work, by the end of 1940, the preparatory task of the radio station was basically completed, and XNCR's call sign began to test broadcasting. On December 30, red radio waves flew into the sky for the first time, spreading Yan 'an's voice in all directions, opening the first page in the history of China's people's broadcasting industry. In March 1947, Yan 'an Xinhua Radio Station was renamed Shaanxi Xinhua Radio Station. On March 25,1949, the radio station moved to Beiping with the Party Central Committee and changed its name to Beiping Xinhua Radio Station. On October 1, it broadcast the founding ceremony of the People's Republic of China live in Tiananmen Square, which was the first large-scale live broadcast in the history of broadcasting in China. After the founding of New China, Xinhua Radio became my country's national radio station. On December 5, 1949, it was officially named China People's Radio.
