Thirty-five years ago today, on July 21, 1990 (May 29, 1990), Chinese computer expert Ciyungui passed away. Chinese computer expert Professor Ciyungui Ciyungui was born in Tongcheng County, Anhui Province in 1917. He passed away in Beijing on July 21, 1990. He was a famous computer expert and educator in our country, the chief designer of China's first 100 million-time supercomputer, the first million-second integrated circuit computer, and the chief designer of China's first naval radar and sonar. He was also a member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and one of the pioneers of Chinese computer science and technology. He was known as the "father of Chinese supercomputers". Yun Gui is a world-famous computer expert. In 1958, he led the development of our country's first tube digital computer. In 1961, he presided over the development of the transistor general-purpose computer 441B, which became one of the earliest transistor computers successfully developed in our country. In 1969, when the country organized the demonstration plan of the central processor of the "Yuanwang" survey ship, he took the lead in proposing the plan of localization, integration, and million secondary dual-machine system. Finally, under the extremely difficult circumstances of "ten years of turmoil", the central processor was successfully developed and the experimental task was completed. In 1977, he was promoted to the technical commander and chief designer of the development of the "Galaxy" billion-time computer. After six years of hard work, he finally achieved success in the research and development work and reached the international advanced level, filling the gap of China's giant computer and becoming one of the few countries in the world with a giant computer. For this, the Central Military Commission awarded him the special prize for scientific and technological achievements and credited him with second-class merit. In the 1980s, the international community just started to develop intelligent computers. On the one hand, he suggested to the organization that this research should be carried out; on the other hand, he organized and led a group of doctoral students to start intelligent computer research, established the China Intelligent Computer Society and the Intelligent Computer Professional Group, and did a lot of work for Chinese speech input, word and phrase recognition and application. In 1989, he actively organized and presided over the second international conference on artificial intelligence tools, which opened up new avenues for the development of various types of computers. The cause pioneered by Professor Ci and other ancestors has achieved new achievements and brilliance through the efforts of several generations of scientific researchers in the academy, giving birth to a large number of major achievements of the national army such as the "Tianhe-1" supercomputer, and cultivating a large number of high-quality new military scientific and technological talents.
