Bao Zheng

Bao Zheng (May 28, 999-July 3, 1062), also known as Xiren, was born in Hefei, Luzhou (now Feidong, Hefei, Anhui) and a famous official of the Northern Song Dynasty.

In the fifth year of Tiansheng (1027), Bao reigned and ascended to the rank of Jinshi. Over time, he supervised the imperial history, and once suggested training and selecting generals and enriching the reserves. He successively served as a judge of the three departments of the Household Department, and a transshipment envoy of JD.com, Shaanxi, and Hebei Road. He entered the dynasty and served as a deputy envoy of the three departments of the Household Department, requesting the court to allow the lifting of salt and trade. He changed his knowledge and remonstrated with the court, and repeatedly impeached the powerful. He was given a direct bachelor of Longtuge, a transshipment envoy of Hebei, and transferred to Ying and Yangzhuzhou, and then summoned to the dynasty. He served as a deputy envoy of the three departments. Jiayou for six years (1061). In the seventh year of Jiayou (1062), Bao Zheng passed away at the age of 64. He was posthumously awarded the title of "Xiao Su," and later called it "Bao Xiao Su." There is "Memorial of Duke Bao Xiaosu" handed down from the past.

Bao Zheng is honest and fair, has a strong and resolute government, does not attach to the powerful, is selfless, and has a wise decision. He dares to complain for the injustice of the people, so he has the names "Bao Qingtian" and "Bao Gong", and the capital has the words "If the joints are not available, there is Yan Luo Bao Lao". Later generations worshipped him as a god and believed that he was the reincarnation of Wenqu Star. Due to the black-faced image of the folk, he was also known as "Bao Qingtian".
