On September 2, 1845, Rivadavia, the first President of the Argentine Republic, died Argentine politician. Born in Buenos Aires on May 20, 1780, into a wealthy family. Influenced by the French Enlightenment, he continued to strive for European countries to recognize Argentina's independence. From 1806 to 1807, he participated in the struggle against the British invasion. He joined the May Revolution in 1810 and served as secretary to the three-member government in 1811. After the independence of the Union Province of La Plata in 1816, Rivadavia was one of the representatives of the totalitarian faction, advocating the establishment of a centralized state and opposing local separatism. From 1821 to 1824, he served as Minister of the Interior of the Provincial Government of Buenos Aires. On February 7, 1826, he was elected the first president of the Union Province of La Plata. During his term, he decided Buenos Aires as the capital, established a national bank, promulgated a constitution reflecting the will of the totalitarians, reorganized the army, and fought a war with Brazil for the east coast (ie Uruguay). Due to the chaos of the federalists, he had to make peace with Brazil in June 1827 and recognize the east coast to Brazil. This exacerbated the growth of the separatist movement at home and led to his resignation. Since then, he has lived abroad for a long time.
