Today, 86 years ago, the Rockefeller Center opened on 1 November 1939 (Calendar 20 September 1939). On 1 November 1939, one of the largest urban development projects ever undertaken ¨C the Rockefeller Center ¨C was completed after eight years of construction. The entire building was designed by Reinhardhofmeis, Hoth Schutterley-Foolonghose and Colbert Harrison-McMarley. It brings together office, leisure, radio, shopping and entertainment facilities. The Rockefeller Center is at the heart of the U.S. Radio Corporation and is surrounded by 13 smaller skyscrapers.
