Forty-seven years ago today, on September 17th, 1978 (August 15th, 1978 in the lunar calendar), the Camp David Agreement was signed. With the participation of US President Carter, Egyptian President Sadat and Israeli Prime Minister Begin held talks on the peaceful settlement of the Middle East issue at Camp David, the US presidential rest near Washington, from September 6 to 17, 1978. After the talks, Egypt and Israel signed two documents, namely the Camp David Agreement, the Outline for Realizing Peace in the Middle East and the Outline for Signing a Peace Treaty between Egypt and Israel. The main contents of the "Outline for Realizing Peace in the Middle East" are: during the five-year transition period, Palestinian residents in the West Bank and Gaza Strip will exercise autonomy and establish autonomous governments, Israel will be responsible for security, and Jordan will participate in the police force; Allow Israel to keep troops in prescribed places; Within five years, Egypt, Israel and Jordan will discuss and decide the ownership of these two places with local Palestinian people's representatives; Invite Jordan to participate in negotiations on Middle East peace issues. The "Outline for Signing a Peace Treaty between Egypt and Israel" stipulates that the sovereignty of Sinai belongs to Egypt, and Egypt and Israel will sign a peace treaty within three months; Within 3 to 9 months after the signing of the peace treaty, Israel withdrew from parts of Sinai, and Egypt established diplomatic relations with Israel; Within 2 to 3 years of signing the peace treaty, Israel will completely withdraw from Sinai; Israel's military airfield in Sinai was returned to Egypt for civilian use; Allow Israeli ships to pass through the Suez Canal, the Strait of Tiran and the Gulf of Aqaba; The settlement issue was discussed and decided by the Israeli Knesset within two weeks. After the signing of the Camp David Agreement, Israel refused to hand over the Taba area near the Gulf of Aqaba, and withdrew from Sinai in stages according to the Outline of the Egypt-Israel Peace Treaty, and Egypt and Israel established diplomatic relations. However, due to Israel's stubborn position of occupying Palestine, the Platform for Achieving Peace in the Middle East has not been implemented.
