On this day, 32 years ago, on July 3, 1993 (May 14, 1993 in the lunar calendar), dinosaur egg fossils were discovered in Henan. On July 3, 1993, a rare group of dinosaur egg fossils in the world was discovered in the Xixia Basin in Nanyang, Henan Province. Relevant experts have recently confirmed seven burial sites of dinosaur egg fossils after on-site inspections, of which the western slope of Shangtian Village, Danshui Town, Xixia County is the most concentrated. In addition to a large number of dinosaur egg fossils, dinosaur skeleton fossils were also discovered in the Cretaceous strata in the southwest of Zhaoying Village, Yangcheng Township, the county. Experts revealed that the characteristics of the dinosaur egg fossils found in the basin are as follows: First, they have a large distribution area. Dinosaur activities can be found within nearly 40 square kilometers of Danshui Town, Yangcheng Township, and Chimei Township in Xixia County. Second, the burial is concentrated. Three fossil layers can be observed from the section. The egg fossils are distributed in nests and arranged in an orderly manner, ranging from a dozen to more than thirty in each nest. Third, the number is abundant. Thousands of pieces have been discovered so far, and it is estimated that the total number of pieces buried will not be less than tens of thousands. Its richness is rare in the world. Fourth, the original state is well preserved, and the fossils have basically not been disturbed or broken in the later period. Except for a small number of eggshells that were squeezed by rock layers and the surface was slightly depressed, most of them are intact as before, which is unique in the world.
