On July 2, 2005 (May 26, 2005 in the lunar calendar), Live8 concerts were held around the world. Photo: Live8 concert Live8 is a series of concerts held in G8 countries and South Africa during the G8 Summit on July 2, 2005. The event was scheduled to take place before the 31st G8 Summit (Nos. 6 - 8) held at the Gleneagles Hotel in Perth, Scotland, and commemorated the 20th anniversary of the LiveAid concert. In contrast to the UK's Make Poverty History campaign, all parties plan to put pressure on world leaders to reduce debt for the world's poorest countries, increase and improve aid, and negotiate "more equitable" trade rules for poorer countries. Ten concerts were held simultaneously on July 2, and another concert was held on July 6. On July 7, leaders attending the G8 summit pledged to increase aid to Africa from the current US$25 billion a year to US$50 billion by 2010. More than 1000 musicians participated in the concert series, which was broadcast on 182 TV stations and 2000 radio stations. Organizers from all parties on site will hand over the "list of all parties on site" to world leaders attending the G8 Summit. The "Live Eight List" brings together the names of people from all over the world who have supported the scene to "make poverty history"(signed at www.live8list.com). The names on the list will also appear on the big screen at each concert site. News raw data sources → https://www.abtool.cn/today_detail/189f.html 17WorldNews[2025.09.27-13:48] 访问:80
