On this day 110 years ago, on August 22, 1915 (July 12, 1915 in the lunar calendar), nearly a thousand anti-Japanese activists in Taiwan were sentenced to death. Yu Qingfeng and Luo Jun were escorted to the execution field with baskets on their heads. On August 2, 1915, Taiwan's Yu Qingfeng led anti-Japanese people to besiege the Nanzhuang police station of the Tainan Department of Moo Department, annihilating all the Japanese at the station. The number of anti-Japanese troops expanded to more than 1,000. On the 4th, the anti-Japanese people attacked the Moo Department of Moo Department. On the way, they fought fiercely with the Japanese police for several hours, and the Japanese were defeated. The Japanese police were intimidated by the huge momentum of the anti-Japanese people, so they cowered in the branch hall, defending rather than fighting. On the afternoon of the 6th, five squadrons of infantry and one squadron of artillery arrived at Poba Moo, and immediately bombarded the anti-Japanese people with artillery. The two sides fought fiercely for a day, and more than 300 people were killed. On the 7th, Yu Qingfeng, Jiang Ding, and the others were forced to retreat into the mountains to establish a base and wait for the opportunity to make a comeback. The Japanese army carried out a dehumanizing massacre in more than 20 villages around Poba Moo. Tens of thousands of residents died under the knives of the Japanese army, so that the surrounding area of Poba Moo was completely wiped out and soaked in blood. At the same time, the Japanese authorities also raided Taiwan for anti-Japanese militants, arresting nearly 2,000 people. Yu Qingfeng and eight other comrades were arrested on August 22. The Japanese rulers sentenced Yu Qingfeng, Luo Jun and other 866 people to death.
