On this day 36 years ago, on October 31, 1989 (October 3, 1989 in the lunar calendar), the National People's Congress passed the Law on Assemblies, Processions and Demonstrations. On October 31, 1989, the Tenth Session of the Seventh National People's Congress Standing Committee ended in the Great Hall of the People after passing the Law of the People's Republic of China on Assemblies, Processions and Demonstrations. The Law on Assemblies, Processions and Demonstrations consists of 5 chapters and 36 articles, including general provisions, applications and permits for assemblies, processions and demonstrations, holding of assemblies and demonstrations, legal responsibilities, and supplementary provisions.
