On October 27, 2011, China's first domestically produced petaflop computer system was launched
On October 27, 2011 (October 1, 2011 in the lunar calendar), China's first domestic petaflop computer system was put into use. Shenwei Blu-ray petaflop system Shenwei 1600On the morning of October 27, 2011, the National Supercomputing Jinan Center was officially completed and listed. This is the first petaflop computer system in China built entirely with domestic Central Processor (CPU) and system software, marking that our country has become the third country after the United States and Japan to be able to use independent CPUs to build petaflops computers. Jiang Xikang, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee of Shandong Province, Jiang Daming, Governor of Shandong Province, and Xu Guanwei, Director of the 11th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, UNESCO Health Sports Committee and academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Jinan Center was unveiled. Sun Wei, a member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee and Vice Governor, Yan Rongzhu, Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee of Jinan, and Zhang Jianguo, Mayor of Jinan, attended the unveiling ceremony. The development capacity and application level of high-performance computing machines are one of the important symbols of a country's scientific and technological development level and comprehensive national strength, and they are also the strategic commanding heights of science and technology that developed countries in the world compete for. To this end, our country's "National Medium- and Long-Term Science and Technology Development Plan Outline" listed the development of petaflop high-efficiency computers as a priority theme. The Ministry of Science and Technology clearly required to master the key technologies for the development of petaflop high-efficiency computers, and listed "high-efficiency computers and grid service environments" as 863 major projects in the The National Supercomputing Jinan Center is one of the three petaflop supercomputing centers approved by the Ministry of Science and Technology in the country, and is built, managed and operated by the Computing Center of Shandong Academy of Sciences. The Shenwei Blu-ray petaflop system used in the Jinan Center is designed by the National Parallel Computing Engineering Technology Research Center according to the petaflop architecture. It is installed with 8,704 16-core "Shenwei 1600" processors. It is supported by the national "Nuclear High-Performance Integrated Circuit" major special project and independently developed by the National High-Performance Integrated Circuit (Shanghai) Design Center. It adopts the independent Instruction Set Architecture. Tested by the national authority, the efficiency of the linear system software package of the Shenwei Blu-ray system of the Jinan Center is 74.4%. The system fully adopts high-density assembly and low-power technology. The assembly density of a single warehouse is 1024 CPUs. The system performance and power consumption ratio exceeds 741MFLOPS/W (computing performance obtained per watt of power consumption). The assembly density and performance power consumption are at the world's leading level, and the system comprehensive level is among the leading in the world today. The successful construction of Jinan Center has achieved the goal of independent control of the core technology of the country's large-scale key information infrastructure, and is in line with the national independent innovation and technology development strategy. While building Jinan Center, Shandong Academy of Sciences has always adhered to the combination of construction and application. It has organized project teams to conduct research on the computing needs of marine, petroleum, finance, animation, agriculture, industry, large-scale engineering and other fields or industries on many occasions, and fully exploited user applications. Recently, in order to cooperate with the two national development strategies of "Shandong Peninsula Blue Economic Zone" and "Yellow River Delta Efficient Ecological Economic Zone" and promote the application of domestic Shenwei Blu-ray petaflop system, the Shandong Academy of Sciences, with the support of the Shandong Provincial Department of Science and Technology, established the "Shandong Provincial Supercomputing Science and Technology Special Project". The first phase has carried out some key topics in marine science, new drug development, weather forecasting, financial analysis, industrial simulation and other fields, and ensured the stable operation of the application. Relying on the National Supercomputing Jinan Center, Shandong Academy of Sciences adheres to the three-in-one work idea of "technology research and development, computing services and talent training", introduces and cultivates professional talents, explores cutting-edge technologies such as parallel frameworks, supporting languages and debugging environments on a 10,000-core scale, and deeply studies key supercomputing technologies such as computing models and algorithms, parallel identification and optimization, massive data processing, virtualization and platform operation and maintenance. It develops major application software in the industry, provides high-quality computing services and technical support, and promotes the application and development of high-performance computing technology. The successful construction and wide application of the National Supercomputing Jinan Center can greatly enhance the scientific and technological innovation capabilities of Shandong Province and even the country, promote the application of major industries, promote the leap-forward development of key and emerging industries, and contribute to the national economic construction.
