On November 29, 1803, Austrian physicist Christian Doppler was born
On this day 222 years ago, on November 29, 1803 (October 16, 1803 lunar calendar), Austrian physicist Christian Doppler was born. Austrian mathematician and physicist Christian Doppler (ChristianAndreasDoppler, November 29, 1803 - March 17, 1853) was born. Doppler was born on November 29, 1803, to a family of stonemasons in Salzburg, Austria. He studied at the Vienna Institute of Technology and then at the University of Vienna. In 1841, he became a professor of mathematics at the Prague Institute of Technology. In 1850, Doppler became the first dean of the School of Physics at the University of Vienna. He died in Venice, Italy in 1853 at the age of 49. Doppler proposed the Doppler effect in 1842, that is, when the observer moves relative to the source of the wave, the frequency of the received wave changes. This effect was later confirmed by listening to music played on a moving train. Doppler tried to use it to explain the color changes of binary stars. Now this effect is widely used in optics, astronomy, meteorology, medical diagnosis, and everyday life. Comments: Famous physicist
