In July 1942, the German fascists took advantage of the delay of Britain and the United States in opening up the second battlefield to mobilize a force of 250,000 people, more than 700 tanks and more than 1000 aircraft, and launched a large-scale attack in the direction of Stalingrad, attempting to move north along the Volga River from then on and encircle Moscow from the east. Starting on July 17, the Soviet Army carried out a difficult and fierce battle to defend Stalingrad. The German army dispatched thousands of aircraft and more than 1000 cannons every day to carry out indiscriminate bombing. On August 25, the Germans crossed the Don River and began a full-scale offensive on Stalingrad. On September 15, Dekou once invaded the industrial area northwest of the city. However, the Stalingrad military and civilians, who had a glorious tradition of defending Tsaritin, fought bloody battles under Stalin's call to "not let the enemy advance one step forward and use all our strength to destroy the enemy."
