On December 6, 1943, three important figures agreed on a plan to conquer Germany
On this day, 82 years ago, on December 6, 1943 (November 10, 1943 in the lunar calendar), three important figures agreed on a plan to conquer Germany. On December 6, 1943, President Roosevelt, Prime Minister Churchill, and Prime Minister Stalin announced that they had agreed on a joint military strategy to defeat Germany. Their joint communiqué provided detailed plans made at the Tehran meeting nine days earlier. The three leaders said they had set dates for a joint attack on Adolf Hitler from the west, south and east. They probably also reached an agreement on Operation Overlord to attack France. However, no detailed information was released for obvious reasons. "There is no great power in the world," the communiqué said,"that can prevent us from defeating the German Army from land, destroying their submarines from the sea, and destroying their fighter jets from the air." Our offense will be ruthless and increasing day by day." Observers noted that the communiqué differed from previous statements by the Allies. The communiqué did not insist on Germany's "unconditional" surrender. Whether this omission is significant is unclear to anyone.
