Thirty years ago today, on November 6, 1995 (September 14, 1995, the lunar calendar), Wang Xuan won the UNESCO Science Prize. At 18:30 pm on November 6, 1995, a grand award ceremony was held at UNESCO headquarters. Professor Wang Xuan, President of the Founder Institute of Technology at Peking University of China, won this year's "UNESCO Science Award." In his speech before awarding the award, Mr. Badran, the head of the organization, spoke highly of Professor Wang Xuan for "making outstanding contributions to the application and development of science and technology." He pointed out that the Chinese computer phototypesetting system developed and developed by Professor Wang Xuan caused a technological revolution in China's newspaper and publishing industry. At present, not only does 99% of newspaper layout and 90% of book publishing in the mainland of China use this phototypesetting system, but most Chinese newspapers in Hong Kong, Macau, Malaysia, North America and other places and some influential newspaper groups in Taiwan have also adopted this technology. The "UNESCO Science Award" was established in 1968 and is awarded every two years to reward scientific researchers who have made outstanding achievements in the development of science and technology in developing countries.
