After returning to China, he served as a professor of philosophy at Southeast University and a professor of philosophy at Central University. 1949-1952 He served as a professor at Nanjing University in 1999. Since then, he has been a professor of philosophy at Peking University and a consultant to the National Society of Aesthetics of China. Mr. Zong Baihua is one of the pioneers of modern aesthetics in my country. Before the May 4th Movement, he devoted himself to the study of German classical philosophy and aesthetics. He has superb research and unique insights on China's classical aesthetics, especially Laozhuang and Wei and Jin Dynasties aesthetics. He also translated many works of aesthetic and artistic masters such as Winckelman, Lessing, Goethe, Schiller, Heine, and Rodin. Mr. Zong Baihua was an influential poet and a fighter for democracy during the May 4th Movement. In 1918, he participated in the "Youth China Society" initiated by Li Dazhao, Deng Zhongxia and others, and was responsible for editing the "Youth China" monthly magazine in Shanghai. He was one of the pioneers of my country's new cultural movement. He attributed one of the important characteristics of China's artistic spirit to the unity of "enrichment" and "ethereal", finite and infinite. Zong Baihua paid special attention to the aesthetic thoughts in metaphysics in the Wei and Jin Dynasties in China, believing that they contained positive things. He also focused on the issue of artistic conception and spatial awareness in China art, believing that space in China art expresses the cordial unity of man and the long and infinite natural life, and is a rhythmic and musical space where time and space are integrated; this spatial awareness is philosophical based on the cosmology of Taoism and the Book of Changes.
