121 years ago today, on August 3, 1904 (June 22, 1904 lunar calendar), the British army occupied Lhasa, the capital of Xizang. The British seized the opportune moment of the Russo-Japanese War and authorized the British-Indian armed mission to go to Gyangzi through the Chumpi Valley on November 6, 1903. The gates of the British invasion of Tibet were opened. The British army assembled more than 2,000 people and equipped with new weapons. They were led by Brigadier General MacDonald. On December 10, they crossed Zalila and invaded in a large scale, starting the second British invasion of Tibet after 1888. On April 11, 1904, the British army arrived in Gyangzi. On August 3, they occupied Lhasa, the capital of Xizang. The British army looted Lhasa and stole many precious cultural relics and classics. The British colonel Yung Hyuk Peng coerced the local officials of Xizang to sign the Lhasa Treaty on September 7, 1904. Comment: The evil British colonists of the last century did not even spare a poorer place like Xizang!
