94 years ago today, on August 4, 1931 (June 21, 1931), Cai Hesen was killed. Cai Hesen was one of the early outstanding leaders of the Communist Party, an outstanding Marxist theorist and propagandist of the Communist Party. In June 1931, he was betrayed by the traitor Gu Shunzhang and was brutally murdered. Cai Hesen was a native of Hunan Xiangxiang (now Shuangfeng County), and studied at Hunan National First Normal School in his early years. He founded the Xinmin Society with Mao Zedong and founded the progressive publication "Xiangxiang Review". In 1919, he led his family to work-study in France. During his time in France, he organized the Chinese Socialist Youth League in Europe. In the winter of 1921, he was sent back to China by the French government for organizing work-study students to fight for the "right to subsistence and the right to study". At the end of the year, he joined the Communist Party of China in Shanghai. He was elected as a member of the Central Committee at the Second to Sixth National Congresses of the Communist Party of China. He edited the weekly Guide, a publication of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China. He participated in the leadership of the "May 30" movement in Shanghai in 1925. In October of the same year, he went to the Soviet Union to serve as the head of the CCP delegation to the Communist International. He was elected as a member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China at the Fifth and Sixth National Congresses of the Communist Party of China. After returning to China in On June 10, 1931, Cai Hesen, Zhao Pusheng, Fang Shilin, Li Qingquan, Lin Jiancai, and Li Bing were arrested by Hong Kong government detectives on the 3rd floor of No. 464 Lockhart Road, Hong Kong. After negotiations between the Kuomintang and the Hong Kong government, they were escorted to Guangdong on June 12. After interrogation, they were executed by the Guangdong National Government on August 4, 1931.
