On this day, 43 years ago, on September 13, 1982 (July 26, 1982, the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China established an Advisory Committee. On September 13, 1982, the Advisory Commission of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China held its first plenary meeting. Deng Xiaoping was elected director of the Central Advisory Commission, and Bo Yibo, Xu Shiyou, Tan Zhenlin and Li Weihan were elected deputy directors. The Advisory Commission of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China was established in accordance with the new Party Constitution adopted at the 12th National Congress of the Communist Party of China. The Party Constitution stipulates that the Central Advisory Committee is the political assistant and adviser of the Central Committee. It works under the leadership of the Central Committee and proposes and accepts consultation on the formulation and implementation of the Party's principles and policies; Assist the Central Committee in investigating and handling certain important issues; publicize the Party's major principles and policies inside and outside the Party; and undertake other tasks entrusted by the Central Committee. The Party Constitution also stipulates that members of the Central Advisory Committee must have more than 40 years of party experience, make great contributions to the party, and have high prestige inside and outside the party. Members of the Central Advisory Committee may attend the plenary meeting of the Central Committee as nonvoting delegates, and their deputy directors may attend the plenary meeting of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee as nonvoting delegates.
