On October 1, 2010 (August 24, 2010 lunar calendar), Japan implemented a census to simultaneously survey the employment situation. Japan's Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications will implement a five-yearly census on October 1 to conduct simultaneous surveys on household population and employment across the country. Due to the previous implementation of the Personal Information Protection Law in Japan and the growing awareness of the protection of personal privacy among the people, this census will for the first time include questionnaires with envelopes, allowing people to seal the envelopes before submitting them.
