Forty-five years ago today, on June 19, 1980 (May 7, 1980 lunar calendar), the Central Committee announced that all cadres wrongly approved in the "Cultural Revolution" would be rehabilitated. On June 19, 1980, the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China issued the "Notice on Handling the Issue of Some Cadres Being Named and Criticized in Newspapers and Documents During the Cultural Revolution". The notice stated that comrades who were wrongly named and criticized in the central, local and military newspapers during the "Cultural Revolution" would be rehabilitated, and all slanderous and false accusations imposed on them would be overturned. The evaluation of the historical merits and wrongs of these comrades is subject to the final review conclusion and rehabilitative decision made by the Central Committee or the corresponding party committee at the corresponding level.
