zongze Zong Ze (January 20, 1060-July 29, 1128), also known as Rulin, was a Han nationality from Wushang, eastern Zhejiang (now Yiwu, Zhejiang), and a famous general of the Song Dynasty. Be upright and forthright, and know the army with determination. Born in a Jinshi, he has served as a county and state civil servant, and has quite political achievements. During his tenure in Tokyo, Zongze wrote more than 20 letters to Gaozong Zhao Gou, urging the return of the capital to Tokyo and formulating a strategy to recover the Central Plains, but none of them were adopted. Due to his unwillingness to repay his lofty aspirations, he became ill from worry and anger. In July, he died three times crying out to "cross the river" on his deathbed. After his death, he was posthumously awarded the title of Bachelor of Guanwen Hall, Doctor of Tongyi, and posthumous title of Zhongjian. He is the author of "Zong Zhong Jian Gong Ji" handed down from generation to generation.
