On this day, 27 years ago, on June 17, 1998 (May 23, 1998, the entire Guangzhou-Shenzhen Electrified Railway was completed. In June 1998, the entire Guangzhou-Shenzhen electrified railway with a speed of 200 kilometers per hour was completed. The Guangzhou-Shenzhen Electrified Railway is an epoch-making railway designed and constructed by my country itself. It starts from Guangzhou East Railway Station in the west and Shenzhen Luohu Bridge in the east. It is connected to the Guangzhou-Kowloon Railway, with a total length of 139.46 kilometers. The designed maximum speed of passenger trains is 200 kilometers per hour, of which the Xiayuan-Chashan section has a 30-kilometer double track test section with a speed of 250 kilometers per hour. Since the entire railway uses many advanced technologies and equipment that have reached the international advanced level of the 1990s, it is known as the test base of China's high-speed railways and the "window" project to demonstrate the development level of my country's railways. Its completion has accumulated a lot of valuable design and construction experience for the development of my country's high-speed electrified railways, and laid the foundation for my country's high-speed railways. After the opening of the Guangzhou-Shenzhen Line, the X-2000 tilting high-speed electric locomotive leased by Sweden runs on the line. This kind of locomotive is more in line with the current situation of many corners in my country's railways, and can also ensure train safety and passenger comfort when adjusting for sharp corners. The Guangzhou-Shenzhen Electrified Railway was put into commercial operation in 1998. By 2000, the number of passenger trains operating on the Guangzhou-Shenzhen Line will increase from the current 38 pairs to 55 pairs (including 8 pairs of Guangzhou-Kowloon through trains), which can accommodate the delivery of 31 million passengers throughout the year. It plays a huge role in the economic development of my country's southeastern coast and the closer connection between the mainland and Hong Kong and Macao.
