On this day, 107 years ago, November 7, 1918 (October 4, 1918 in the lunar calendar), the Provisional People's Government of the Republic of Poland was established. In 1795, Poland was divided by Germany, Austro-Hungary and Russia and subjugated. After the outbreak of the First World War, the three countries became belligerent enemies and all promised Poland's independence. After the October Revolution of 1917, the Soviet government abolished all treaties and agreements of the former Tsarist Russian government and recognized Poland's right to independence. In November 1918, Germany, Austria and Hungary were defeated and surrendered. The Polish army led by Piłutsky drove the German and Austrian occupiers out of the Kingdom of Poland and Galicia. On November 7, 1918, the independent Provisional People's Government of the Republic of Poland was established in Lublin. It is a left-wing coalition government composed of representatives of the Polish Social Democratic Party, the Peasants 'Party, and Biłutsky's "Polish Military Organization". I-Dasynsky, leader of the Galicia Social Democratic Party, served as Prime Minister. After 123 years of subjugation, the Polish people regained independence and began the Second Polish Republic.
