On this day 98 years ago, on June 22, 1927 (May 23, 1927), Feng Yuxiang's ministry purged Communist Party members. On June 20, 1927, Feng Yuxiang and Chiang Kai-shek met in Xuzhou and decided to cooperate against the Communist Party and the Soviet Union. After the meeting, Feng Yuxiang (front row left 1) and Chiang Kai-shek (front row left 3) took a group photo. On June 22, 1927, Feng Yuxiang and Chiang Kai-shek returned to Zhengzhou after a meeting in Xuzhou, and ordered Xu Qian to formulate the "Qing Party" charter. There were fifty or sixty Communist Party members in Feng's army, most of whom worked in the Political Department. Feng ordered: "All political workers at all levels of the army will go to Kaifeng for training and screening: (1) report whether they are Communist Party members; (2) all Communist Party members will leave the Political Department; (3) if any Communist Party still wants to continue the national revolutionary workers, they must declare their separation from the Communist Party and swear allegiance to the Kuomintang." The order was issued, and the first person to be fired was Liu Bojian, a member of the Communist Party of China and director of the Political Department of the National Army.
