On September 30, 1954, the world’s first nuclear-powered submarine launched.
The concept of using nuclear power as a propulsion power source for submarine diving was first mentioned in his report by the submarine physicist Philip Abelson of the Second World War, who began promoting the role of the submarine as a missile launcher, thus promoting the submarine from a tactical assault ship to a strategic weapons carrier.
