On this day, 35 years ago, on September 3, 1990 (July 15, 1990, the "Fengyun-1" satellite was launched into space. At 9:53 on September 3, 1990, my country's second "Fengyun-1" experimental meteorological satellite was successfully launched at the Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center and entered the sun-synchronous orbit. The "Long March 4" carrier rocket accurately placed the satellite into the predetermined orbit. After that, Xi'an Satellite Monitoring and Control Center controlled the satellite. Currently, the satellite is working normally. At 13:14, the Urumqi satellite ground station received the first very high-resolution visible light cloud picture. The cloud and surface images are clear, and the cloud layers are rich. The Xi'an Satellite Monitoring and Control Center and the Satellite Meteorology Center of the National Meteorological Administration are conducting on-orbit tests of satellites as planned. The main task of the satellite is to obtain domestic and foreign meteorological cloud pictures, ocean detection data and atmospheric physical data, improve my country's atmospheric detection and weather forecasting capabilities, and better serve the national economy and national defense construction. At the same time, meteorological data is sent to meteorological satellite ground stations around the world. Two balloon satellites for atmospheric observation carried by China Academy of Sciences took off at the same time and entered predetermined orbits. On September 4, the State Council and the Central Military Commission congratulated the successful launch of the second "Fengyun-1" meteorological satellite.
