Breaking-News >> TodayHistory On June 14, 1974, Jiang Qing incited to "seize modern scholars"
On this day, 51 years ago, June 14, 1974 (April 24, the lunar calendar, 1974), Jiang Qing incited "arresting modern scholars." Jiang Qing's Talks Recorded by Chi Qun On June 14, 1974, Jiang Qing talked about the so-called "History of the Struggle between Confucianism and Legalism" at the "Report Meeting on Soldiers 'Criticizing Lin and Confucius" held in the Great Hall of the People, and asked to write articles criticizing "modern Confucianism." She said: "Nowadays, articles rarely mention modern Confucianism. If there are, I hope you can propose an article. Nowadays, Confucianism is not mentioned except Lin Biao and Chen Boda. In the past, there was no mention of atheism and materialism, but now there is no mention of Confucianism. Do we have no Confucianism now? No, why is the second hole? Are there Confucianism now? There are many Confucian scholars, and Chiang Kai-shek is the general representative. On June 15, Jiang Qing and others repeated the above arguments in a conversation with Liang Xiao, Tang Xiaowen and other writing team members. A few days later, one of Liang Xiao's leaders said at a meeting convened by Chi Qun and others: "Note that the great scholars are not criticizing Liu Shaoqi, nor are they Lin Biao or Chen Boda. From June 17 to 28, Jiang Qing went to Tianjin to carry out activities, inciting "arresting modern scholars." Jiang Qing led a large number of people, including Chi Qun, Yu Huiyong, and the "Liang Xiao" writing team, to Tianjin. In factories, rural areas, and troops, he spread the fallacy that "the struggle between Confucianism and Law continues to this day" and incited "grasping modern scholars." From 7:30 pm on June 19 to early morning the next day, Jiang Qing presided over the "Report Meeting on the Struggle of Confucianism and Legalism in Tianjin City" attended by more than 1000 people. She talked about her "History of the Struggle of Confucianism and Legalism" and mentioned many historical figures from the Pre-Qin Dynasty to the Ming and Qing Dynasties. In the name of criticizing Liu Shaoqi for "personally worshiping Confucius in the early days of entering the city," she said,"Don't think that our party has produced many Confucianism just because socialism has no Confucianism." She also openly said: "The focus of this movement is to criticize 'great Confucianism within the party'." At the meeting, Jiang Qing instructed his cronies to read a foreign telegram that praised Jiang Qing as a "radical" and slandered Zhou Enlai as a "moderate". Through the mouth of foreigners, he told the participants: "The current struggle in China is a struggle between the moderates represented by Zhou Enlai and the radicals represented by Jiang Qing." They also suggested that Zhou Enlai was what they called a "modern great scholar." News raw data sources → https://www.abtool.cn/today_detail/1lpi.html 17WorldNews[2025.09.27-13:35] 访问:90
